Shanghai Sonatas: World Premiere of a New Musical

Matthew will be playing in the pit for this new musical, based on memoirs of Jewish refugee musicians who fled to Shanghai from Nazi Germany and trained the first generation of Western Classical musicians in China. More information can be found here: http://shanghaisonatas.com/

The Who’s Tommy at Washington College

Matthew will be collaborating with sopranos Sylvia Stoner and Anne Jennifer Nash and mezzo-soprano Sharon Campbell to present scenes from Sister - Show Me Eternity, written in a new music theater genre that weaves art songs together into a larger narrative based on Emily Dickenson's life.

Matthew will be giving a lecture for Colgate University's German Department on German Lieder, including significant composers and examples of their works and how they shaped the art song genre.
